Charles Layne

Chief Executive Officer

Charles has spent more than two decades leading growth-oriented technology organizations, most recently serving as President of Signature Technology Group, a Tech Data Corporation. He is a recognized leader in the software technology industry with a keen understanding of the marketplace, product innovation, and developing best-in-class customer solutions. During his tenure as CEO and President, he led Signature Technology Group to triple its global revenue and employee base. Prior to 2011, Charles held senior leadership roles at Microsoft within the solution sales organization. He started his IT career as a consultant for IBM and then joined Insight Enterprises where he served as an officer while running the Small & Medium Business Division, as well as the Software Solutions Sales Division. Charles is a native of Arizona. He received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Arizona State University and holds a Global Leadership Certificate from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Charles serves on the Board of Directors for Arizona-based Student Expedition Program (STEP). He also serves as an Advisor for both Allbound, Inc. and NeoLight Medical. Charles previously served on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Technology Council and the Scottsdale/Paradise Valley YMCA.

Scott Gilbert


Scott oversees Calero’s ongoing customer operations, which includes ensuring Calero provides best-in-class service to its growing customer base. With over 20 years of telecom and software experience, Scott most recently served as Chief Information Officer at FirstLight Fiber, where the successful implementation of his systems and process methodology enabled the regional infrastructure provider to scale to nearly five-times its size within a 48-month span via aggressive acquisition and organic growth. Scott also played a pivotal role in two highly successful private equity transactions while at FirstLight.  Additionally, he has served as Chief Operating Officer of CornerStone Telephone Company and Chief Information Officer of Cleartel Communications. Scott holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Union College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Science from Hartwick College.

Andrew Taylor

Chief Revenue Officer

Andrew is responsible for leading both Calero’s direct and channel sales and customer success programs. By fostering a culture of collaboration and consultation in all phases of customer engagement, Andrew enhances Calero’s role as a trusted advisor and assures outcomes that exceed customer expectations. Prior to Calero, Andrew was the VP, Sales and Marketing for one of the original Managed Mobility Service providers, Mission Critical Wireless (MCW). Through collaboration and customer engagement, Andrew helped expand MCW’s business from a small regional player to a national player and ultimately a global player, which led to its acquisition by Digital Management Inc (DMI).  Once at DMI, Andrew continued his role within DMI’s commercial division as VP, Sales helping DMI achieve Leader status in the Gartner Magic Quadrant.  Additionally, Andrew has held multiple leadership positions within AT&T and Verizon Wireless. Andrew attended Miami University of Ohio.

Simon Mendoza

Chief Technology Officer

Simon joined MDSL in 2003 as part of the Development Team after graduating from the University of Cambridge with an MA in Computer Science. He drove the development of a number of key technologies, including MDSL’s e-billing handler architecture, which led to the rapid growth of MDSL’s TEM offering. He was instrumental in the design and implementation of the hosting architecture which plays a central part in the delivery of MDSL’s self-service product, and now has overall responsibility for aligning the company’s IT policy with its overall business direction.

David Bliss

Executive Vice President, Product Management

David is responsible for Calero’s strategic product vision, development roadmap and go-to-market activities. David brings a wealth of experience in leading product management teams and taking a customer focused approach to strategic planning.  Prior to Calero, David led product management for CCC Information Services’ core technology platform where he launched their mobility and artificial intelligence product lines and achieved market-leading status in these areas within 18 months. He also served in a management consultant capacity with PwC and in progressive roles within product management and product marketing while at Accuity. David holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Global Studies with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Simon Bone

General Manager, Market Data Management

Simon joined MDSL in 2000 and has held various positions within the organization including sales support, account management, global support, and project management for both Market Data and Technology Expense Management implementations. Simon currently heads up the FinTech division utilizing his extensive experience in the market data management business, specializing in analysis and market data cost containment along with a technical understanding of market data delivery technologies. Prior to joining MDSL, Simon held positions at Kleinwort Benson, Swiss Bank, UBS and Barclays Capital holding various senior positions in trading room technology and market data management. Simon enjoys playing golf, cycling and is a keen amateur photographer.

Andrew Wyse

Managing Director, EMEA

Andrew oversees Calero’s EMEA business operations and is responsible for supporting clients with multi-national requirements. Andrew brings over 20 years in international business and sales leadership roles within the technology sector, and has held various C-level roles throughout his career. Prior to joining Calero, he most recently served as Senior Vice President of Sales at PayWizard Group, PLC, where he was responsible for Global Sales and drove new deals with Tier 1 media enterprises in APAC, Middle East and Europe. He also served as President of Global Sales and Operations for Airwide Solutions, where he led a globally distributed sales, delivery and support team to address the messaging needs of the world’s largest wireless carriers. While there, he doubled the company’s revenue prior to being sold. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from University of North London and a Global Leadership in Technology certification through Ericsson’s Management Program.

Mike Lucania

Vice President, Sales, EMEA

Mike is responsible for leading Calero’s EMEA direct and channel sales as well as customer success programs. In partnership with Andrew Taylor, Mike enhances Calero’s EMEA team by bringing his recognized industry leadership and expertise in Communications Lifecycle Management (CLM). Previously, Mike served as Vice President of Solution Consulting for Calero and has held several senior leadership roles, and played an instrumental role in the integration of Veramark, PINNACLE and Movero into what Calero is today. In the last 10 years, Mike has led operations and sales functions supporting the adoption and deployment of Calero’s CLM solutions for many Fortune 500 companies. Prior to joining Calero, Mike served as Program Manager and Data Analytics Practice Lead for ePlus Technology, Inc. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a concentration in Software Architecture and Mathematics from State University of New College at Brockport.

Ron Rijkenberg

Regional Vice President, EMEA

Based out of the Netherlands, Ron leads Calero’s European operations. With more than 25 years of experience in helping customers navigate the telecom and expense management industries, he brings a wealth of insight and knowledge around the highly complex European markets. Ron joined Calero through the acquisition of A&B Groep, where he served as one of the founders and CEO. In his role as CEO, Ron helped expand A&B Groep from a national consulting firm into a global operating TEM company, resulting in the acquisition by Calero. During his first 10 years with A&B Groep, Ron held a leading role in sales and then served as CEO for 9 years. Before his career in this industry he served in the Royal Dutch Navy for 7 years as a Radio Radar Technician. Ron holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics with a concentration in Telematics from Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences.

Nicola Whiting

Vice President, Operations, EMEA

Nicola brings over 25 years of IT and communications experience, combined with a strong operational and technical background. Based in the U.K., Nicola oversees all aspects of Calero’s EMEA operations, including implementation and service delivery, supporting growth and profitability in this region. Throughout her career, she has held a number of senior roles at Veropath and Bluesky Technologies, and brings a wealth of knowledge and insight of the European market. Nicola joined Calero following the recent acquisition of Veropath, where she was co-founder and Chief Operating Officer. While at Veropath, Nicola was instrumental in the development of the company’s implementation and service delivery efforts to secure Fortune 200 customers. Nicola holds a Professional Certificate in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in Berkshire, as well as certifications from other UK accredited institutions.
